Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) joint secretary Avishek Dalmiya on Saturday congratulated Anurag Thakur, who is all set to be unanimously elected the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Thakur will be elected at a special general meeting scheduled to be held on Sunday in Mumbai. He filed his nomination on Saturday.

"Many congratulations to Shri Anurag Thakur on becoming the consensus candidate for the post of BCCI President. While he brings youth at the top, he also has the required experience since he has been associated with the BCCI for over 16 years," said Dalmiya in a statement.

He further added that Thakur will be able to guide the national cricketing body in the right direction.

"We are sure that he would be able to guide the board in the right direction and help immensely to the cause of cricket in the country. Furthermore, the fact that he has been playing an active role in running of the game would work to his advantage," added Dalmiya who is also the chairman of the New Area Development Committee of the BCCI.
