The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday approved an MoU with Australia on cooperation in the field of health and medicine, a cabinet communique said.
According to the communique, the main areas of cooperation include communicable diseases such as malaria and TB, mental health and non-communicable diseases, anti-microbial resistance and response to public health emergencies; regulation of pharmaceuticals, vaccines and medical devices; digital health; tobacco control and any other area of cooperation decided mutually between the two countries.
The MoU will involve cooperation through joint initiatives in the health sector and strengthen bilateral ties between India and Australia, it added.
