The ongoing dispute over China's air defence identification zone (ADIZ) in the East China Sea should be resolved bilaterally between the aggrieving nations, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal N.A.K. Browne said here Thursday.
The US, Japan, South Korea and other countries have accused Beijing of increasing regional tension by setting up the ADIZ over disputed parts in the East China Sea which overlaps the Japanese ADIZ and includes the disputed Senkaku/Diaoyu islands.
"This is an issue between China and Japan. It is their bilateral issue which I hope they will resolve it amicably," Browne told journalists at the Advance Landing Ground here in Meghalaya.
Although, Browne did not elaborate on the regional tension, an official in the ministry of external affairs said New Delhi should not take positions on other countries' problems with China.
"We still have our own set of problems with China, and New Delhi should not take positions on other countries' problems with China," the official told IANS on condition of anonymity.
