The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will tie up with the Goa government to develop a model village, which will also host a centre for developing the skills of the local workforce, Atul Pai Kane, chairman of the confederation's Goa state council, said Tuesday.
Kane said the village of Netravali, located in the Netravali wildlife sanctuary in south Goa, 80 km from here, had been identified for the purpose and would be adopted as part of the joint programme soon.
"The chief minister has announced his intentions to back agriculture and animal husbandry. We could assist in technological support in these areas and also look at providing holistic support to push agriculture," Kane said.
Located deep in the wildlife sanctuary, a special dairy project is being planned in Netravali.
Local legislator Subhash Faldesai claims that the Goa government looking towards emulating the Amul (Anand Milk Union Limited) model of dairy development in the village, which is surrounded by a wildlife sanctuary on all sides.
"The area can be developed for milk. The honey from the forests is also renowned," Faldesai said.
