US-based global software major Cognizant on Thursday announced acquiring Canadian design firm Idea Couture for an undisclosed amount to provide its clients an edge in the digital economy.
"As part of our Digital Works arm, Idea Couture will help our clients succeed in the digital economy with its expertise in designing and prototyping products, services and business models," the New Jersey-headquartered Cognizant said in a statement here.
With offices in the US, Europe and Latin America, the Toronto-based Couture has about 170 social scientists, strategists, anthropologists, user experience experts, designers and product developers who serve global firms across multiple industries, including Samsung, PepsiCo, Cox, Citi Ventures, Kroger and ConAgra Foods.
"As digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, mobility, business analytics, cloud services, and Internet of Things disrupt every industry, enterprises want to use them for front office customer experience, middle office business process and back office IT systems to interact with customers, employees and partners," the statement pointed out.
The acquisition will also advance Cognizant's strategy to bring capabilities in behavioural insight, strategy, design and technology to deliver innovative solutions for its clients in banking, insurance, life sciences.
"Couture team's capabilities accelerate our ability to help clients transform their customer experiences, core business processes, partner relationships and supporting systems," said Cognizant Vice-President Gajen Kandiah.
"Couture has a track record in envisioning, designing and prototyping digital solutions and help companies develop connected products, engage customers and deploy new business models for growth," asserted Kandiah.
Post acquisition, Coutre will build new products for the transformation of its clients.
As part of Cognizant Digital Works, we will do more with design and technology.
"By connecting with Cognizant's abilities, global scale and expertise, we can help our clients know the value of innovation," said Couture Chief Executive Idris Mootee.
