The office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) in West Bengal has sent its observation regarding a complaint against Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) MP from Asansol Babul Supriyo to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
It has also given suggestions regarding the party's theme song, an official said on Thursday.The office of the Chief Electoral Officer had slapped a show cause notice on Supriyo for not seeking permission before releasing a video of the party's campaign song on social media.
"We have discussed all the complaints against him (Supriyo) at the state level and have forwarded our observations to the ECI on Thursday," Additional Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Basu told reporters here.
He said since the BJP had later submitted a transcript of the lyrics of the campaign song to the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC), the CEO has sent its observations to them.
"We have given suggestions to the party members for re-submission," Basu said.
Talking about the party members and candidates seeking permission on the Suvidha App, Basu said they have received 5,141 applications out of which 1,012 were under process while 3,196 have been disposed.
Sharing the details of the 'cVigil App' Basu said, "As many as 1,814 complaints have been registered so far out of which 1,151 have been found to be correct and action has been taken."
They have also received 798 complaints via the ECI's National Grievance Services (NGS) portal and 281 of them have been resolved.
The citizens portal of NGS recorded 1,131 complaints out of which 483 have been addressed, he said.
Till date, the commission and the police have seized 505,652 litres of liquor and Rs 10.424 crore in cash.
"Mountaineer Kanchan Gaba has been selected as the district icon for Kolkata North and athlete Soma Biswas for Nadia," Basu added.
Gaba is a blind mountaineer, human rights activist and a recipient of the President's Award.
