Congress demands Personnel Minister, SSC Chairman be sacked

Terming the SSC a "Super Scam Commission", the Congress on Monday demanded an independent, time-bound and fearless probe into the question paper leaks and that Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh and SSC Chairman Ashim Khurana be sacked right away.

It also asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi if he will show the courage of conviction to secure the future of India's youth or will remain silent.

The party also said that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which was a "captive puppet" would not be able to carry out an independent probe and added that BJP spreads patented 'Vypam Virus' across India, referring to the irregularities in Madhya Pradesh examinations.

Citing a Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice report, tabled in Parliament on March 14, the party said it had passed strictures against the Modi government and SSC "for not maintaining the sanctity of examination process, lack of trust of public in general and of examinees in particular, malpractices and technical glitches, supervision on private entities involved in examination process and audit of hardware and software".

"Irregularities, malfeasance, paper leaks, proxy candidates, fake centres, lack of audit and supervision, questionable software and deliberate collusion have put a question mark on the future of India's youth," said Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala.

He said that repeated paper leaks, cheating and bungling in marksheets have led to cancellation of seven SSC exams while there have been blunders galore, citing the case of one student who was issued 700 admit cards in an SSC exam last year.

"Shockingly, SSC has no such secure computer/server at its office at CGO Complex here. Paper is uploaded by the private contractor in his own server based in Chennai over which the SSC has neither access nor control," he said.

He also said that the SSC has never conducted the mandatory security audit of its software and online examination.
