Gwalior District unit chief of the Congress party Darshan Singh died of cardiac failure on Monday while taking part in the "Jan Aakrosh March" here to protest the demonetisation decision of the central government. He was 56.
"Singh, along with other party workers, was taking part in the march when he suddenly complained of uneasiness. He was rushed to a private hospital, where he was declared dead," General Secretary of the state unit of the party Ashok Singh Tomar told reporters.
Some Congress workers taking part in the protest march said the march began from Phoolbagh around noon. They walked up to the office of the Divisional Commissioner and submitted a memorandum there.
It was after this that Singh complained of chest pain. He was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.
