The husband of a CPI-M candidate was killed in a bomb attack as sporadic violence was reported in phase two of the West Bengal panchayat polls Monday.
Mohammad Hasmat, husband of CPI-M candidate Manowara Bibi for a gram panchayat seat in Burdwan district, died when some miscreants threw bombs at him while he was on his way to a polling booth to cast his vote.
About 12,869 panchayat seats are up for the grabs in Hooghly, East Midnapore and Burdwan districts where 28,342 candidates are in the fray.
