Young triathlete Leslie Amat Alvarez will represent Cuba in the Triathlon Pan-American Cup, in the U-23 category, to be held Feb 16 in the Argentine city of Mendoza.
Aurelio Romero, Cuba's National Commissioner for Triathlon, Tuesday said Alvarez will seek to achieve a good position to win points in the continental ranking, reports Xinhua.
The points will be accumulated for the qualification to the 2014 Central American Games to be held in the Mexican city of Veracruz in November, as well as for the 2015 Toronto Pan-American Games and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympic Games.
The Triathlon Pan-American Cup includes a 1,500 metre swimming race, a 40-km cycling race and a 10-km running race.
