A man and his wife were killed when they threw themselves along with their eight-year-old daughter before a running train here Wednesday, police said. The girl is in critical condition.
Police identified the couple as Sankalp and Nandini Anand, both around 45 years old. They died instantly while the girl was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries.
Police officer Arun Kumar told IANS from Kosi: "The girl is in a serious condition."
The couple, who were staying in a nearby hotel, came to the railway track in a red car. They flung themselves on the tracks before people in the area could catch them.
Police said the husband worked in a government department. They lived in Rohini in Delhi. A suicide note was recovered from the abandoned car.
Officer Kumar said: "We cannot share the contents of the suicide note."
