A Delhi Police assistant sub-inspector, who had apparently shot himself Wednesday evening, has died of bullet injury, an official said.
Padma Ram, 50, was spotted lying in a pool of blood by a colleague at the security police line in Chankyapuri area of Delhi Wednesday evening.
He was taken to the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital where he succumbed to the bullet injury late Wednesday night.
The assistant sub-inspector had received a bullet injury in the head and it seemed that he fired the bullet himself, said a senior police officer. His service revolver has been recovered, the officer added.
Although no suicide note has been found, a probe has been ordered.
The assistant sub-inspector belonged to Rajasthan and was posted at the Chankyapuri security police line campus for the last few years. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
