Delhi residents will have to wait at least till Tuesday before they usher in the monsoon, weather experts said on Thursday. The national capital and the surrounding region have received a drizzle in isolated patches.
Even though the south-west monsoon technically arrived in Delhi on July 2, the city is yet to see the rains in full swing. The past three days have been dry.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), only 0.1 mm rainfall was recorded at Safdarjung and 5.6 mm at Palam on Thursday. Other areas too recorded low precipitation.
"Till July 10, the national capital will not see rains. There will only be traces or very little of rain at some isolated places," said Mahesh Palawat, Director of private weather forecaster Skymet.
The weather analysts predict that the monsoon will kick in from July 11 onwards and the following two days will see rains.
On Thursday, humidity in Delhi oscillated between 77 and 66 per cent, while the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 35.89 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average, and 27.l4 degrees Celsius respectively.
