An 18-year-old Delhi youth was caught at Imphal Airport on Sunday while trying to smuggle three gold bars weighing 500 grammes in a body cavity on to a flight, a CISF official said.
Mohit Kishan was held during pre embarkation security check for a Delhi-bound Indigo flight at around 9 p.m.
"We noticed presence of metal in a body cavity of the passenger. He was taken to a separate place for thorough checking. On enquiry, he revealed he was carrying gold concealed inside his rectum," said Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Assistant Inspector General Hemendra Singh.
Three gold bars weighing about 500 grams valued at approximately Rs 15 lakh were recovered from his possession, he said, adding that the passenger and the gold were handed to custom officials in Imphal for further action.
