The DMK Monday warned Press Council of India chairman Markandey Katju of legal action if he does not stop his attacks and defamatory statements against party president M. Karunanidhi.
In a statement, DMK organising secretary R.S. Bharathi condemned the former Supreme Court judge for his statements against Karunanidhi and demanded an unconditional apology.
"You are also warned of legal action if you persist with the repeated individualistic attacks and defamatory statements against Kalaignar (Karunanidhi)," he said.
The DMK's statement came in response to Katju's questions in his blog about the assets of Karunanidhi and his relatives.
Bharathi also raised questions about the value of assets owned by Katju and his close relatives, his wife, daughter, son-in-law and his uncle.
Last month, the DMK had demanded Katju's removal as chairman of the Press Council of India to protect the reputation of the judiciary and the legislature.
