Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday demanded to know whether the central government was trying to appoint BJP lawyers as high court judges in the country.
"Why (is the) Centre not clearing names suggested by SC (Supreme Court) collegium," the Aam Aadmi Party leader asked in a tweet. "Does Centre want BJP lawyers to be appointed as HC (High Court) judges?"
Chief Justice T.S. Thakur of the Supreme Court has gone public saying 78 requests for appointment of High Court judges were pending for eight long months with the central government.
Kejriwal's tweet followed a journalist's comment: "Is Centre treating SC like it treats Delhi government?"
