A day ahead of the second part of West Bengal assembly polls' first phase, the Election Commission on Sunday removed a police officer in Burdwan district.

"Following a complaint from CPI-M regarding a bike rally in the Durgapur East segment, the officer-in-charge of Durgapur police station has been removed. He has been shifted to a non-election area," a poll panel official told the media here.

Voting will take place in 31 constituencies spread over three districts on Monday.
