The Indian eCommerce industry that is fast gaining pace feels that it has the potential to organize the unorganized industrial sectors in India, a statement issued by the eCommerce Association of India said here Tuesday.
"One of the utmost important aspect which is being missed by almost everyone today is the possibility that eCommerce is probably the best way to organize the unorganized sectors in India," the statement said.
Retail traditionally has been one of the biggest unorganized sectors in India with only a few organized players in the market. "However, with the advent of the digital age in the sector the online trade has somewhat managed to shift the balance towards organizing retail in India," it said.
"Real estate similarly has been an even bigger unorganized parallel economy in our country but with the advent of eCommerce this can change whereby the business models can evolve to actual buying and selling online in order to remove any use of black money," the association added.
"Ecommerce would certainly help the unorganized retail and realty sector to boost their sale as well as provide a reach to a larger audience. Since a large amount of unrecorded transactions which if accounted for would also help to give a clearer and a more realistic GDP (gross domestic product) value," the statement said.
