A senior education official was suspended in Tripura for alleged embezzling more than Rs.4 crore from a central government education scheme, an official said Saturday.
The state government Friday lodged a First Information Report (FIR) in the multi-crore scam against 12 officials.
The official said: "Both police and the education department have been separately inquiring the misappropriation of the fund. The state government has suspended Ambalika Datta, education department deputy director and in-charge of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) on the similar offence."
