Elderly man held for bid to rape five-year-old in Haryana

A 62-year-old man was arrested here Wednesday for attempting to rape a five-year-old child, police said.

Aas Mohammad entered the house of the victim in Hariya Heri village Wednesday afternoon and tried to sexually assault her. she raised an alarm.

"The accused had came to the village to collect donations for a madrassa board at Nuh. The victim was all alone at her house when he knocked on the door for donation," Varun Kumar, chief of Bhondsi police station, told IANS.

On hearing the girl's cries for help, her mother, who was in a neighbour's house, rushed and caught Mohammad. The villagers thrashed him before handing him over to police.
