A forest guard was trampled to death by a herd of elephants in West Bengal's Bankura district on Thursday, a forest official said.
The incident happened in Onda range under Panchet forest division. The guard Sujit Manna (40) was on duty when he was attacked by the elephants.
"Manna was keeping a track on the movement of the herd that had around 13-14 elephants and this morning when he went to check on them, the elephants attacked and trampled him to death," Divisional Forest Officer (Panchet Division) Ayan Ghosh said.
The incident comes a day after another man was chased and killed by two elephants near the Barjora range in the district.
