Berlin, Nov 11 (IANS/TASS) The European Union's (EU) new foreign affairs chief, Federica Mogherini, Tuesday said the regional grouping is scheduled to discuss plans to impose fresh sanctions against Russia.
"On Nov 17, we will have a ministerial meeting in Brussels and there will be a discussion not only to impose new sanctions on Russia but also how to help Ukraine overcome the ongoing crisis," Mogherini said at the opening of the Berlin Foreign Policy Forum.
However, a consensus of all the 28 member states is needed to extend sanctions or revise the existing ones.
The EU and the US had imposed the latest batch of sanctions against Russia in September despite a deal on a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine, signed in the Belarusian capital of Minsk.
