Actress Eva Longoria was honoured at the Women of Distinction Awards Gala, organised by the Young Women's Christian Association here, for her philanthropic work.
On receiving the Dorothy I. Height award, she took to Twitter to share her excitement.
"So excited to be in DC receiving the Dorothy I. Height for racial justice tonight by the YWCA USA," reports dailymail.co.uk.
"At a time when women are growing as a powerful force in American culture and politics, we are delighted to honour Eva Longoria for her activism, especially for her efforts to encourage all women to exercise their right to vote," said Dara Richardson-Heron, CEO of the organisation.
The "Desperate Housewives" star's list of endeavours range from protesting against unfair immigration laws to starting Eva's Heroes, her own charity supporting disabled children.
