A retired armyman's son and his friend, who robbed people and spent the money on their lavish lifestyle, were arrested here and their associate was taken into custody in Ghaziabad, Delhi Police said Tuesday. Over 100 cases were solved and 15 mobikes and two pisols were seized.

Nitin and Rahul were arrested from north Delhi's Kashmere Gate bus terminus Monday evening while their associate Akshay, who fled from the spot, was arrested later from Vaishali Metro station in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad area, police said.

"Their arrests led to the solving of more than 100 robberies and snatchings occurred in Delhi and neghbouring regions," said Ravindra Yadav, additional commissioner of police.

"More than 15 motor bikes and two sophisticated pistols of .32 bore have been recovered from the accused," said Yadav.

According to the officer, the three had committed a series of armed robberies and snatchings in the past one year. They spent the loot on their lavish lifestyle.

"A team of 25 officers of anti-extortion cell and the Crime Branch was constituted to arrest the criminals," said the officer.

Nitin's father was in the Indian Army and after retirement shifted to Palam in Delhi with his family. In Delhi, Nitin's mother had worked as a home guard.

"Nitin started indulging in petty crimes and gradually got involved in 12 criminal cases of thefts, snatchings, violations of teh Arms Act and attempt to murder," said the officer.

"This gang used high speed motorcycles during crimes. They used to steal such bikes from the residential colonies of Uttam Nagar and Mahipalpur and after using the bike for 10 to 15 days, they used to abandon it," said the officer.
