Two people who were posing as Maharashtra Police officials were arrested in Punjab's Batala Thursday along with their driver, police said.
The arrest was made in Batala police division of north Punjab, 250 km from here. The two arrested were identified at Harpreet Singh and Ranjit Singh, both residents of Punjab.
While one was posing as an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, the other was posing as a Maharashtra Police officer.
"Both were in uniforms of Maharashtra Police when they were arrested. Their questioning revealed that they were trying to recruit youth for Maharashtra Police from Punjab," said station house officer of Qadian, Kulwant Singh.
Police seized their fake identity cards and other documents. Their vehicle was also impounded.
