Spanish David Ferrer bowed out of the ASB Classic tennis tournament after going down to Dutchman Robin Haase in the second round here on Wednesday.

Hasse defeated Ferrer 2-6, 6-4, 7- 6 (4) in two hours in their first match against each other, reports Efe.

In other match, Spain's Feliciano Lopez had to retire due to the back problem.

Lopez retired due to back problem just before his match against Frenchman Jeremy Chardy, who advanced to the next round.

"Sorry I wasn't able to go on court today. Woke up with a problem in my back that I hope will get better so I can compete in Melbourne," Lopez wrote on Twitter.
