A major fire at the India-Japan Lighting (IJL) factory, a vendor company of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL), may effect production of Maruti cars, a company official said on Wednesday.
A major part of IJL was gutted in the fire that broke out Tuesday night in Sector 6, IMT Bawal, Rewari, around 70 km from Gurgaon.
The company is a key supplier of head lamps and tail lamps to MSIL, India's largest car maker.
According to informed sources, Maruti Suzuki car production is at an all-time high with over 5,600 units made daily.
"Our senior officials are in Bawal for an assessment. We suspect that production may be effected," a Maruti spokesperson told IANS.
"It may take a week to restart production at IJL," added another official.
Maruti Suzuki's production remained suspended for four days after a major fire in Manesar in Gurgaon on May 29.
