The authorities here Sunday ordered registration of police complaint against 11 school teachers, including six women, who did not turn up for duty to register new voters, an official said.
Teachers from various government schools here were deputed as block level officers for registration of new voters in Badshahpur assembly seat.
"School teachers Mamta, Suman, Poonam, Veenu, Shakuntla, Alka, Surender Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Vinod Kumar, Deepak Verma and Kuldeep were found absent from their duties," an official told IANS.
Pushpender Singh Chauhan, electoral officer and Gurgaon additional deputy commissioner, wrote to deputy commissioner of police to register first information reports against the teachers under the Representation of the People Act, the official said.
Registration of new votes and updation of voters list are in progress in Haryana, which will hold assembly polls in October.
