'Jaipur Belt' which can reduce 80 percent load from the waist-spine of physical workers, and a cheap, painless and radiation-free test for detecting breast cancer, will compete for the Indian Merchants Chamber (IMC) award 2014, an official said here Thursday.

The other finalists have innovated Sohum, a safe medical device for mass screening of newborns to detect hearing loss, a low cost portable water purification system which can be fitted in pumps and taps to remove up to 98 percent arsenic and 99.99 percent bacteria from water, and a bio-organic plant nutrient with major benefits.

The innovators of these five products will compete for the two million-rupee prize at an IMC inclusive innovation award function here Saturday.

"The inclusive innovation awards encourage and economically support candidates who find it difficult to reach out to the government and the larger scale with their ideas and innovations," a spokesperson said.

Sohum has been developed by Nitin Sisodia, the bio-organic plant nutrient has been created by K.V.S.S. Sairam and the low cost portable water purifier has been innovated jointly by Santosh Dubey, Sanny Kumar and Mandar Badve.
