Five people, including a father and his son, were killed on Thursday in a road accident near the border town of Uri in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, police said.

The accident occurred when the car the five were in plunged into a 200-feet deep gorge in Silkot village near the Uri after the driver lost control," a senior police officer said here.

"All five, including Ghulam Hassan, sarpanch of Silkot village and his son, Imran Ahmad, died on the spot.

"The bodies were recovered from the gorge and after completion of legal formalities, were handed over to the next of kin for burial," the official said.
