At least five persons were arrested here for running an online casino in the garb of a game parlour, Delhi Police said on Wednesday.
According to police, the accused identified as Chander Dev, 22, Rajkumar, 22, Amit, 23 (caretaker of the parlour), Sachin Jain, 35, and Sachin Kumar, 39, were running an online casino in the guise of a game parlour in a small shopping arcade named Ansal Plaza in Krishna Nagar of east Delhi.
"The accused persons were arrested on Tuesday night after a police raided the parlour, when a decoy customer was sent to check whether there was an online casino running inside.
"Amit asked the decoy customer to pay minimum amount of Rs 1,000 on pretext of earning 36 times of the paid money," Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Nupur Prasad said.
"Police found the software of casino in one main computer in the parlour. The main computer was connected with six other computers which was being used for playing casino," Prasad added.
There were 13 types of games being played at the premises such as 'andar bahar', 'triple run', 'one target', 'bingo', 'fever joker bonus', and others, DCP said.
"During interrogation, they told police that Amit was a caretaker of the game parlour. The owner Shailesh Jaiswal used to give attractive offers to their customers to gamble through online casino to earn more money," Prasad added.
"Jaiswal is still absconding. Police have recovered Rs 24,000 from them," she said.
