Brazilian football giants Flamengo have confirmed their interest in signing former Wigan Athletic and current Gremio striker Marcelo Moreno.
The 25-year-old Bolivian international has not played for the Porto Alegre club since February 24 due to a rift with coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo, reports Xinhua.
"Marcelo Moreno is an excellent forward and interests us," Flamengo's football manager Wallim Vasconcelos told Radio Globo.
"He is somebody who could come to Flamengo if the financial conditions were within the club's limits. It depends on a resolution between he and Gremio."
Hindering the deal is Moreno's reported wage demands of $250,000 a month and Gremio's need to pay off a $2.2 million-dollar debt to Shakhtar Donetsk, from whom the player was bought last year.
