Former Chinese provincial official expelled from CPC

A former provincial official in China's Jiangsu province has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) for suspected party and criminal offences, the top anti-graft body said on Friday.

Approved by the CPC central committee, the central commission for discipline inspection (CCDI) filed and investigated the case of Zhao Shaolin, former member of the standing committee of the CPC Jiangsu provincial committee and secretary-general of the provincial party committee, reported Xinhua.

Zhao violated organisational and political discipline and rules of the party, organised groups within the party and exchanged favours for personal interests. Zhao disseminated remarks contrary to the CPC's aim of strictly governing the Party.

Zhao concealed his personal overseas travelling records, seriously violating self-discipline regulations, and helped his son's business by taking advantage of his public post.

According to the CPC's regulations, the CPC central committee approved the expulsion of Zhao from the party.

The supreme people's procuratorate (SPP) said on Friday that it had filed a case against him.

Zhao has been placed under compulsive measures, which include summons by force, bail, residential surveillance, detention and arrest.
