Former Manipur Chief Minister R.K. Dorendra Singh passed away here on Friday and was cremated here on Saturday with full state honours. He was 84.
The three-time Chief Minister expired at the J.N. Institute of Medical Sciences here. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.
The Manipur government has announced a three-day state mourning. The flag will fly half mast and there shall be no state function during this period.
As Chief Minister thrice in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, he had tried to solve the armed movement and several insurgents had come overground and had been rehabilitated. He had also been the Speaker and Minister several times as well as a Rajya Sabha member.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Speaker Y. Khemchand and others have condoled his death.
