Former Brazil striker Fred was on target as Fluminense defeated Goias 2-0 in Brazil's Serie A championship.
The 31-year-old netted his seventh goal of the campaign with a low-finish on the half-hour mark before Gustavo Scarpa added a second for the hosts just ater halftime on Saturday, reports Xinhua.
The result at the Maracana stadium lifted Fluminense to 10th with 37 points while Goias remained 16th with 31 points.
In Saturday's only other match, Giuliano struck two first-half goals in Gremio's 3-1 home victory over Avai.
Gremio remain third in the standings with 51 points, 19 points ahead of 15th-placed Avai.
