The Goa Police on Thursday arrested a 58-year-old French national for possession of a cocktail of drugs and foreign currency to the tune of Rs 6.5 lakh, a spokesperson said.
The accused, Stephane Humbert, was arrested during a raid at Chapora beach village, a popular narco-tourism destination located 25 km north of Panaji. During the raid, police officials from the Anjuna police station seized LSD strips, cocaine and charas worth Rs 4.5 lakh from the French national's person.
"We have also seized around Rs 2 lakh in foreign currency from the accused. Humbert has been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS act for now. He will also be booked for possession of foreign currency after formalities are complete," the Goa Police spokesperson said.
