Another polio case has been detected in Pakistan, taking the count to 10 this year, a media report said Wednesday.
The latest case from Khyber Agency of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) was confirmed by the Polio Virology Laboratory in Pakistan Tuesday, Dawn quoted a health official as saying.
Last year 306 cases of polio were reported in the country, a record for the past 16 years.
"The winter is known for low transmission of poliovirus and therefore new cases of polio should not come to surface in this season," the official said.
During the winter season, the poliovirus becomes less active because of low temperature.
