The German embassy Wednesday said it will open six more visa application centres in the next two months.
Currently, travellers apply for the necessary Schengen visa at the German missions in New Delhi, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Jaipur, Gurgaon, Chennai, Hyderabad, Puducherry, Bengaluru and Mumbai.
In the next two months, six more visa application centres will be operational at Goa, Pune, Ahmedabad, Cochin, Trivandrum and Kolkata.
"For most Indians and Bhutanese travelling to Europe, be it for business or leisure, Germany is high on the wish list," said German Ambassador to India Michael Steiner.
"Therefore, the visa application process should be as smooth as possible. With our new policy, we take the visa application process to the people's door. This is good service and customer-orientation at its best."
The German embassy also has a visa application centres in Thimpu, Bhutan. The new service will be run by VFS Global, the contract partner of the German Embassy.
