Ghana will play in Group C of next year's Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Equatorial Guinea as the draw for the 16-nation competition was held in Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea.

The Black Stars have been pitched against Senegal, in-form South Africa and tournament favourites Algeria in the Group which is arguably the toughest for the 2015 tournament, reports Xinhua.

Ghana together with former winners Zambia, Ivory Coast and hosts Equatorial Guinea are the top seeds for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

All the teams in Group C except Senegal are former winners of the continental showpiece.

Ghana will open their tournament against Senegal before matches against South Africa and Algeria.

Ghana will be based in Mongomo with Bata, Ebibeyin and Malabo hosting the other group games.

The opening game will be between Equatorial Guinea and Congo on Jan 17.
