A 19-year-old girl saved herself from being a gang rape victim, fought back three of her neighbours who forcibly took her to a forest here, and escaped, police said Thursday.
The girl was abducted by three men around 8 p.m. Wednesday when she went to fetch water from a tap near her home in south Delhi's Fatehpur Beri area.
"The girl fought back with the men when they tried to rape her. When she resisted, they badly beat her up. But the girl continued to fight and managed to flee from the spot," said a police officer.
When she reached home, the girl informed her parents about her ordeal. The parents later approached police.
The girl was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences here for treatment.
"A case regarding the incident has been registered and hunt is on for the culprits, who fled from their homes after the incident," the officer said.
