The driver of a former gangster and Gurgaon councillor Binder Gujjar was shot dead by unidentified people, police said on Sunday.
The 25-year-old deceased has been identified as Ashok Kumar. His body was found in a Swift car parked on the road side in the heart of the city.
Police said Kumar might have been murdered late Saturday night or early sunday.
The car was parked near Gujjar's house on Basai road here. The body and the car have several marks of gun shots, a senior police officer told IANS.
A case against unknown people has been registered under sections of murder and others.
Gujjar has been elected for ward 16 during the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) election held in 2010. He has been involved in over dozen cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery and others.
Gujjar was also attacked by a group of criminals three years back in which he received three gun shots.
