Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh on Wednesday inaugurated 12 classrooms built by Cargill India company along with its implementing partner at a village school under its CSR programme.

The Lotus Petal Foundation aims to provide free education to children at the school situated in Silokhara village.

Along with implementing partner ASED (Association for Social and Environmental Development), Cargill got constructed the new classrooms that will accommodate more than 300 new students over two years.

It is also contributing to the school's food programme by building a kitchen and providing nutritional supplements to all children.

Overall, this initiative will touch the lives of nearly 1,500 persons by providing improved access to education and vocational training for children.

Singh appreciated the efforts of the foundation and the company and exhorted other companies and organisations to come forward to contribute in the education sector under the Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.

Cargill India Chairman Siraj Chaudhry, ASED-India Country Manager Sudha Parthasarathy, and Lotus Petal Foundation founder Kushal Chakraborty were present on the occasion.
