In a major set back, India's Olympic silver medallist Vijay Kumar failed to qualify for the men's 25-metre rapid fire pistol finals but Harpreet Singh made up for the disappointment by entering the summit clash at the Commonwealth Games here Tuesday.
Out of the six who qualified from Stage 2, Harpreet finished fourth with a total score of 281 points while Vijay could only manage a 274 to end his campaign in eighth.
Australia's David Chapman topped the qualification with 286 points at the Barry Buddon Shooting Centre.
Earlier Monday evening, Harpreet had topped Stage 1 of qualification while Vijay had finished fourth.
The 33-year-old Harpreet shot a total of 292 points and was followed by Australians Bruce Quick (287) and Chapman (282) in second and third spots, respectively, while Vijay had to be content with a combined total of 281.
