Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday announced that a government college in the state would be named after Major Satish Dahiya, killed while fighting with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district earlier this month.

Khattar, who met Dahiya's family at his native village Banihari of Mahendergarh district, also announced an assistance of Rs 50 lakh for them.

Dahiya, of 30 Rashtriya Rifles, had laid down his life during a gunfight with militants in Kralgund in Kupwara on February 14. He is survived by his parents, wife and a two and a half years old daughter.

Lauding the extraordinary courage exhibited by the officer, Khattar said that the Government College, Nangal Chaudhary, would be named after Dahiya.

He also announced construction of road from village Nangal Nunia to Banihari and naming it after Dahiya as well as a 'Vyayamshala' in Banihari in his name.

The Chief Minister also announced a government job for Major Dahiya's wife, Sujata Devi.
