Ace women badminton player Saina Nehwal will be provided land by the Haryana government to set up a badminton academy in the state.
The land to the international star will be provided by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (HSIIDC) at Manesar in Gurugram district, 45 km from New Delhi.
HSIIDC Managing Director Sudhir Rajpal said that the land will be provided to Nehwal to further promote sports in the state.
Rajpal, who was attending the Pravasi Haryana Divas roadshow in Hyderabad on Sunday, made the announcement following a proposal made by Nehwal's father, Harbir Singh, for setting up a badminton academy in Haryana.
Though Saina hails from Hyderabad and lives there, her family originally belongs to Haryana.
