Hockey India (HI) Thursday added its 23rd associate member by welcoming on board Hockey Madhya Pradesh, previously known as Madhya Pradesh Hockey Association (MPHA).
Since 1956, MPHA has successfully identified many international players and umpires, hence contributing to the game since its inception. They have also conducted international Test matches, national championships as well as state level tournaments across various districts.
"I welcome Hockey Madhya Pradesh to the family of HI and we look forward to them to continue their commendable work that they have been doing since their inception as MPHA," HI secretary general Narinder Batra said.
"I am proud that many hockey associations in various states are coming forward and showcasing their intent to being a part of HI and this is happening because of the urge by each one of us to revive the game of hockey in the country."
HI now has 25 permanent members, 23 associate members, two members through state Olympic associations, six academy members and one Hoc-Key member.
Nitin Dhimole is the president and Lok Bahadur the general secretary of Hockey Madhya Pradesh.
