The Telangana government has decided to set up an exclusive all-women police station in Cyberabad, the information technology (IT) district housing several IT giants, a minister said Thursday.

IT Minister K. Tarakarama Rao said the police station will be opened in 10 days in IT corridor under Cyberabad police commissionerate limits.

At executive council meeting of Nasscom, the apex body of IT industry, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao assured that special emphasis will be laid on security of women working in IT sector.

The minister told reporters that a meeting of Cyberabad Security Council, jointly headed by the IT industry and Cyberabad police commissioner will be called in a week to review the security measures for women working in various IT companies.

Women constitute about 25 percent of 3.5 lakh workforce in IT/ITES companies in Hyderabad.

The minister said the government was committed to ensure security for all women. A task force constituted by the state government already submitted its interim report. It will visit Singapore and other countries before submitting final report, suggesting reforms to improve the security environment for women.
