The International Cricket Council (ICC) Sunday approved pacer Mohit Sharma as a replacement for injured Ishant Sharma in India's World Cup squad.
"The ICC has confirmed that the Event Technical Committee of the World Cup has approved Mohit Sharma as a replacement player for Ishant Sharma in India's squad for the tournament, which starts Feb 14," said an ICC statement.
Ishant is suffering from a knee injury he sustained during the Boxing Day Test against Australia. The 26-year-old Mohit has played 12 One-Day Internationals (ODI) in which he has taken 10 wickets.
Defending champions India are in Pool B of the World Cup along with former champions Pakistan and the West Indies, African rivals South Africa and Zimbabwe, and qualifiers Ireland and United Arab Emirates (UAE). India will play their opening match against Pakistan at the Adelaide Oval here Feb 15.
