The National Green Tribunal (NGT) may ban the controversial Art of Living (AoL) cultural event here if it doesn't pay up the Rs.5 crore fine slapped on it, a lawyer said on Thursday.
With AoL leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's refusal to pay the fine, the NGT has decided to have a hearing on the matter on Thursday evening to get its order implemented, lawyer Ritwik Dutta told IANS.
Dutta is the lawyer of petitioner Manoj Misra who moved the NGT against the March 11-13 event.
"A hearing is listed against the Art of Living in the NGT court at 4 p.m. today (Thursday)," Dutta said.
"NGT may ban the event to implement its order passed yesterday (Wednesday) if they don't deposit the fine amount," he added.
The NGT fined the AoL for organising the event on the banks of the Yamuna river, saying it would seriously damage the eco-system.
