Though India lost three wickets in the morning, opener Murali Vijay (144 not out) scored his sixth Test hundred while middle-order bat Ajinkya Rahane consolidated with 55 not out.
Shikhar Dhawan (173), Rohit Sharma (6) and Virat Kohli (14) got out in the first session with ace spinner Shakib Al Hasan taking two wickets and 19-year-old leg-spinner Jubair Hossain clinching one.
